Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year

We hope you had a GREAT summer vacation. It is now time to look forward to our upcoming school year. Check out the High School section that has been updated with all of the forms you will need at the beginning of school.

Orchestra Registration Day

Orchestra Registration Day will be on Saturday, September 4th. All Students and at least 1 parent MUST attend. During that time, you will be assigned a uniform, pay all fees, and turn in all forms for the 2010-2011 school year. Schedule is as follows:

Seniors: 9 am
Juniors: 10 am
Sophomores: 12 pm
Freshmen: 1:30 pm

Welcome to Martin - Mr. Keefer

We would like to welcome our newest orchestra director, Nathan Keefer, who joins us from Bowie HS. Mr. Keefer will be conducting the Philharmonia and Concert II Orchestras. Read more about Mr. Keefer here.

Orchestra Students and Parents - use School Code: MartinHSOrch. Use Martin ID number as your Charms password. After you have logged in with your ID, please change your password. If you forget your password, email Mr. Stringer and he can reset it for you. Click here for the CHARMS website

Grammy

    The Music Departmnt at MHS has been named the 2009 National GRAMMY Signature School by the GRAMMY Foundation. Congraulations to all MHS Music Students on this TREMENDOUS accomplishment.

All Region

    Congratulations to the 23 members and 2 alternates who made the TMEA Region V Full Orchestra and 21 members and 2 alternates who made the TMEA Region V String Orchestra. MHS had the the most students in the region make the orchestra. WAY TO GO!!

About the Martin HS Orchestras

The string instrument program of Martin High School began in 1982 with an initial enrollment of 8 students. Today, Martin HS has over 225 students enrolled in the orchestra program. Students in the MHS orchestra program participate in UIL Region V Solo & Concert Contests and the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Orchestras and Bands.
